TAKE BACK YOUR RIGHTS!
We are NOT revolutionaries. We are just folks who have become disenchanted with the institutions that have created the challenges that we have faced recently. Some of the most frustrating involve Medical Insurance and Retirement Plans. In the case of layoffs and/or change of employment we have faced dramatic changes that we have been forced to accept or go without ... we do not think that this is fair.
With the economic challenges created by the government and the financial institutions added to the frustrations created by changes in our Medical Insurance and our Retirement Plans many of us feel that it is time to turn the tables on those institutions that are creating havoc in our lives. IT IS TIME TO TAKE OWNERSHIP of those things which we CAN control.
One of the primary areas that we can affect is that of Medical Insurance. The insurance companies respond to and provide special group policies with lower premiums for large employers. But why let the employers and the insurance companies negotiate that coverage and the premium? Why not create our own Independent Employee Group to negotiate coverage and premiums that WE consider important and affordable? A One Hundred Thousand member organization representing $30,000,000 per month in premiums would certainly create some interest from the Medical Insurance community - and a One Million member organization representing $300,000,000 per month in premiums creates more than SOME interest! MONEY TALKS!
Much the same can be said for Financial Planning firms. An Independent Employee Group with investment capital of $30-$300 million per month should be able to attract some very capable money managers. And they should be creative enough to present a variety of packages and offer clear advice for the membership. MONEY TALKS!
We are looking for YOUR suggestions as to how to finance a grass roots effort to get our story out and to fund a minimal administrative effort to set up the organization. We have tried a subscription approach, but that is probably not the right tool ... what do you suggest?
It was planned to get organized as a non-profit very quickly and then to establish that 90% of the (previously proposed) subscriptions be reserved for member services ... things like paying a member's Medical Insurance premiums for six months of unemployment or assisting members in the time of a catastrophic event.

So, if YOU think that YOU should have more control of YOUR benefits - if YOU are tired of having to put up with plans that OTHERS have provided for YOU ... SEND us YOUR comments and make a statement. Then marvel at what WE TOGETHER can accomplish!
